Lapa Rios: The Happiest Place on Earth

One of our recent guests made the comment…“Lapa Rios is just like Disneyland.  It’s the happiest place on Earth, only more wild”.  Here, our guests are able to see animals in their wild, natural environment which make their experience with us that much more unforgettable.  Like the recent puma sighting by two different guests in Bungalow 14 or being able to see all four types of monkeys which call Costa Rica home.  Or the fer-de-lance snake, coatis, agoutis, hundreds of types of birds, scorpions, golden orb spiders and colorful dart frogs.
Just a few nights ago, our Operations Manager, Marijke, turned off the lights and fans to her office and went to the restaurant to chat with guests for a few minutes.  But she left her office door open... When she returned, she said she nearly had a heart attack because there in her office was an adult anteater in a corner.  The anteater probably thought it was a nice dry, dark spot to spend the night.  Poor thing, it took quite some convincing to get him back in the jungle and, as Marijke said, those claws aren´t a joke at all!

Of course, it's not just the wildlife that create the feeling of being the happiest place on Earth for our guests...it's also the experiences, connections and memories that are created.
What are your favorite wildlife experiences and/or personal memories with us here at Lapa Rios?

Favorite memory - after falling off a horse in 1986, I was afraid to ever ride again until I met Clemintina - she never runs. How wonderful to ride through the forrest down to the beach and back again. Much easier to observe the wonderful sights from Clemintina.
