Lovely Poem from a Recent Guest

A mother and daughter recently enjoyed a week long stay at Lapa Rios.   Dorothy and Lauren participated in many of the hotel tours and activities (like our salsa lessonsPigs, Twigs and Garbage Sustainability tour and the dolphin tour) and upon their return home, Dorothy sent us the following poem.  It is such a lovely poem and we wanted to share it with all of you.  And much thanks to Dorothy for sharing it with us!

Lapa Rios

Hollow throated howls

breathe past eons

into my sunrise

startling sounds

colors singing silent

songs to my heart…

Rhythms slow pulsing

merging into oneness

dancing with nature

in flow with the mystery

forest creatures emerge

microcosmic mirrors of complexity…

Flying, flashing primary colors

flirt, tease my eyes

slithering ominous beauty

coiled coolness rests green

on green on green

trees, leaves, lizards leaping…

Effortless, loose-limbed monkeys

play in an eerily familiar treetop jungle gym

swinging, climbing, leaping, crashing, jumping

stirring my desire to let go, climb high,

fall, catch myself and fly free…

Threatening spines protect

sweet treasures of fruit

camouflage hides vulnerability

even as I protect my heart

hide my soft and tender parts…

I share more with the forest than I know…
